Trees for Weeds Swap

On Saturday 7th September, we had our annual Trees for Weeds Swap in collaboration with Cardinia Shire Council. Residents of Cardinia Shire are invited to bring pieces of their weeds to us at Emerald Library to be identified, and to be given information on how best to eradicate them.

We had Daniel from Cardinia Shire Council, together with David, a local farmer who has vast knowledge of the local species – both indigenous and introduced weeds – to assist us in supporting attendees. Their knowledge and support is very much appreciated every year.

This time we had a large variety of weed species brought to us to test our knowledge.

Every year, the last Saturday in August, we host a fundraising barbecue outside, and supported by, Emerald Butchers. This is also an opportunity for us to promote the Trees for Weeds Swap the following Saturday.
